Congratulations to Tae J. Kwon for successfully passing his Ph.D. oral defense on December 4, 2015 under supervision of Dr. Liping Fu.
The Oral Defense committee was chaired by Dr. Trefford Simpson, Professor at the Department of Optometry & Vision Science, University of Waterloo, and consisted of 4 examiners: Dr. Steven I-JY Chien, Professor at the Department of Civil and environmental engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA; Dr. Jean Andrey, Professor at the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of Waterloo; Dr. Bryan Tolson, Professor at the Department civil and environmental engineering, University of Waterloo, and Dr. Jeff Casello, Professor at the Department civil and environmental engineering, University of Waterloo.
His doctoral thesis is entitled “Development and Evaluation of Models and Algorithms for Locating RWIS Stations”. During his PhD, Dr. Kwon, published 4 journal papers, 9 conference papers, 3 project reports and 2 journal papers are under review process. He was also awarded with UW doctoral thesis completion award and departmental scholarships for eight times.
Starting January 2016, Tae will join the iTSS lab at UW as a post-doctoral fellow to continue his research.
